The core installation of Exchange 2007 is very straight forward and doesn't take long at all.
Co-Existence With Exchange 2003
If you already have Exchange 2003 in place and are installing Exchange 2007
for the first time, then you need to ensure that you have an SMTP Connector in
place. Create this before the installation of Exchange 2007 occurs.
If you do not have an SMTP Connector in place, then Exchange 2007 can take over
email routing when you create the Send Connector.
You should also ensure that you do not have a smart host on the SMTP virtual
server, as this will cause problems with inter-server traffic.
For more information on the SMTP connector for Exchange 2003 - see our Exchange 2003 SMTP Connector page.
